San Bartolomeo arcangelo

Nowadays named San Bartolomeo, originally was dedicated instead to San Michele of the woods. We can find in fact an important quotation by Mons. Bossio, during his visit in 1558, stating “Sancti Bartholomei de Leivi, alias de Sancto Michele”. The foundation date of this church is still uncertain, but it has been indicated as a place of cult since the XIV century and annexed to the church of San Tommaso del Curlo. In 1886 this latter church is appointed (established) as a Priorate and detached from San Bartolomeo church. Only later, in 1919, the church of San Bartolomeo regains its establishment as Priorate by the will of Mons. Casabona (bishop of Chiavari). As main characteristic of this church we can notice the church-square , worked in the traditional Ligurian technique called “ a risseu”, a type of mosaic made out of black and white stones.
